Dear Colleagues, Students, Parents, Alumni, Stakeholders & Friends of TIC,
In Q1 2018, TIC continued to progress and grow. As we move forward into Q2 2018, I would like to recap some key Q1 happenings, welcome new appointment holders and cruise ahead into Q2.
Shenton Education Group’s New Appointment Holders
Dr. Juanita B. Corre., Ph.D. is an education management specialist. She was the Principal of Saint Benilde International School (April 2013 – April 2018) in Calamba City, Laguna, Philippines. Dr Corre will be appointed as Department Head of SMY Kindergarten & International College at Mandalay with effect from 1st May 2018.
Mr. Mberede Kingsley Chukwuma has 19 years of teaching experience in higher education. He holds a BA (English Studies) from University of Calabar (Nigeria), BA (Philosophy) from Salesian Pontifical University (Rome) and BSc (Sociology/ Anthropology) from Imo State University (Nigeria). Mr. Kingsley is appointed as Head of TIC University Foundation Programme with effect from 1st January 2018.
Key Happenings in Q1, 2018
SDH Institute Singapore Attains ACPHA Accreditation
TIC congratulates SDH Institute Singapore for being the very first institution outside of the Americas to be accredited the full 7-year accreditation by ACPHA (Accreditation Commission for Programs in Hotel Administration) of the USA for its Advanced Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management (ADHTM) programme. This means SDH-TIC’s ADHTM programme now boasts double international accreditations – ACPHA (USA) and IOH (Institute of Hospitality, UK), which vastly differentiates TIC’s ADHTM programme from any other hospitality & tourism programmes in Myanmar.
Launch of Temasek International College’s 5th Anniversary Celebrations
To mark its 5th anniversary, Temasek International College (TIC) officials will be re-visiting and making courtesy calls to industry partners over the next 12 months, to celebrate 5 years of active contributions towards Human Capital Development in Myanmar.
TIC’s industrial partners’ re-visits and courtesy calls are opportunities to celebrate each organization’s respective achievements, promoting hospitality & tourism in Myanmar and jointly reflecting a shared future ahead.
Surfing The Chinese Tourism Wave Seminar @ Lashio
This seminar was held on 9th January 2018 at Myint Mo Boarding School, UTH Private High School & Paragon International Education Centre in Lashio. The seminar explored the impact of increasing Chinese Tourist numbers on Myanmar and reached out to prospective Hospitality & Tourism talents in Upper Myanmar.
Discover Online – Enhance Your Career Seminar @ Mandalay
This seminar was held on 11th January 2018 at SMY International College in Mandalay. This seminar explained the strategic advantages of Online Education, via Derby University (UK)’s Bachelor Degree programmes for students in Central Myanmar.
Industrial Seminar on Travel & Tour Operations Seminar @ Yangon
TIC organised the 2nd “Industrial Seminar On Travel & Tour Operations In Myanmar” on 28th March 2018 at Pan Pacific Yangon. This seminar was meant to attract fresh talents, encourage, inform existing Travel & Tour Operations professionals and to contribute towards Myanmar’s human capital development in the hotels and tourism sector, by gathering industrial knowledge and applying best practices from veteran practitioners and industry educators.

TIC-HELP University MBA Graduation
Meanwhile I am looking forward to attend TIC-HELP University’s second MBA batch’s graduation ceremony, which will be held in KL, Malaysia on 29th April 2018. We will continue with our efforts to stay connected with TIC-HELP MBA graduates, who have been self-directed and determined learners.
3rd International Conference on Higher Education & Youth Development
The third edition of this conference is set to return on 9th June 2018 at Melia Yangon. More details on the speakers and topics will be announced soon. Watch this space!
Open House 2018
TIC Open House & Seminar 2018 will be held on 16 June 2018 (10:00 AM -12:00 PM). All prospective students & parents are invited to join us. The objective of the TIC Open House is to showcase TIC’s campus, our quality education and students. Along side a seminar, TIC will be having different activity rooms which will engage prospective students and their parents. The TIC Students’ Council will also be staging some fun and engaging activities.
